ENA Resources
- ENA National website – The official website of the national Emergency Nurses Association.
- ENA Foundation – supporting research and education in emergency nursing. Please consider giving.
- ENA Connect – The official forums of the Emergency Nurses Association. Replaces the old list-servs. Connect with fellow nurses and leaders, share documents, and find mentors.
- BCEN – The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing. Administers the CEN, CTRN, CPEN, TCRN, and CFRN certifications. Your dashboard now also includes a transcript manager for tracking CE courses, presentations, academic credit, preceptorships, authoring, item writing, poster presentations, and clinical hours.
ENA Practice Resource Library
The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Practice Resource Library is a comprehensive collection of evidence-based materials designed to support emergency nursing professionals in delivering safe and effective patient care. Accessible through ENA University, this library offers a wide array of resources, including clinical practice guidelines, position statements, toolkits, infographics, and topic briefs.
Key features of the Practice Resource Library include:
- Clinical Practice Guidelines: Detailed protocols to guide emergency nursing procedures and decision-making.
- Position Statements: Official ENA stances on critical issues affecting emergency nursing practice.

- ENA Community Injury Prevention Toolkit – A comprehensive document from ENA that walks through the theory, epidemiology, and strategies for injury prevention.
- Toolkit for Mitigating Violence in the Workplace – A document designed to help leaders and nurses implement a comprehensive plan that addresses the needs relating to preventing and managing the occurrence of workplace injuries in the emergency department. Joint work by AONL and ENA.
- The Role of the Emergency Nurse in Injury Prevention – Position Statement from ENA regarding the role of the emergency nurse in preventing injury.

Washington-specific Resources
- Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center – a CDC-funded injury control research center (ICRC), the HIPRC is a worldwide leader in injury cause and prevention research.
- Overdose Awareness & Prevention – DOH website with the state Opioid Response Plan and resources.
- 1-866-789-1511 is the 24-hour Washington Recovery Help Line.
- Washington Trauma System – Department of Health website for the trauma system. Contains many resources including guidelines, designation applications, hospital directory, and more.
- Trauma Guidelines – Also on the DOH site, this page contains Washington Acute Care Guidelines, ACS guidelines, Rehab guidelines, and the Trauma Quality Improvement Toolkit.
- Injury Prevention Resources – A list maintained by DOH of injury prevention resources.
- Washington Emergency Cardiac & Stroke System – similar to the Trauma System, this is the DOH page for the cardiac and stroke system in Washington State.
- Washington Emergency Management Training – training calendar for the Emergency Management Division. Generally free courses (with approval) for a variety of emergency management topics.
Sexual Assault & Forensic Nursing
- WA-SAFE – A Washington State resource for sexual assault forensic medical care. Hosted by UW Medicine. Includes resources for victims and providers.
- Office of Crime Victims Advocacy (Dept of Commerce) – provides best practices and resources for sexual assault forensic exams in Washington.
- WSP Sexual Assault Kit Tracking System – Information about the Sexual Assault Kit Tracking System in Washington State.
- Sexual and Domestic Violence Resources – a thorough list of resources put together by DOH.
Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
- Suicide Prevention Washington – a DOH website about the State Suicide Prevention Plan with resources for providers, relatives, and patients.
- 1-800-273-8255 (TALK) is the 24-hour Suicide Prevention Lifeline
- 9-8-8 – This number will work as a 911 for mental health crisis, and will route to the Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Active nationwide in July 2022. Learn more here.
- Crisis Text Line – text “HOME” to 741741 to chat with a live Crisis Counselor 24/7. They also release interesting statistics and visualizations at crisistrends.org.
